Welcome everybody to our website. I would like to introduce myself as the new President of our club for 2011-2012.
My name is Sheila Millington, I am married and live in Burscough with my husband Tony. I joined the club in May 1995 having been asked by Mrs Pat Martin, our Treasurer, if I could spare enough time firstly, to join the organisation, and secondly, to attend meetings regularly, knowing that we were very busy people in running our newsagents business having emigrated to Bootle from Manchester. At the time we thought it would be for about 10 years when we might be able to retire. In the nature of things that are planned this didn’t work out, we were 21 years in the shop, made an awful lot of friends, and our plans to retire back to Manchester from whence we came were thrown out of the window. So you see we are fully committed to our ‘new’ area, and I know I have the backing of Tony in all my undertakings.
This makes my year and my commitment to the club all the easier. I have had the backing of all our members in my quest to achieve this position and, having been the club secretary for the last four years, assure you all of my earnest attention to all matters relating to the club, and the region, in what I know will be a busy year.
My main charity for this year of office is the NORTH WEST AIR AMBULANCE, an organisation that everybody knows of and hopes never to have use of. My local charity is the SWAN CENTRE,
Empire House, Linacre Road, Litherland, (A Service for Women by Women).
We do have a number of events arranged and organised to support these charities and others under the auspices of PAC.
I know I can count on the co-operation of all my members and I would like to say that it will be my privilege to work for you and for the club.
In friendship
Sheila
